Extinguishing of burning oil wells eliminated threat of oil spills - SOCAR
Results of monitoring conducted by the Working Group, created to prevent possible oil spills after accident at Guneshli offshore field and ecological after-effects, yesterday, have been announced.

SOCAR told that the monitoring has been conducted by helicopters and vessels throughout a day and no oil spills have been observed: “Extinguishing of burning oil wells has eliminated threat of oil spills. Information received from Mammad Suleymanov vessel also confirmed the results”.

“The Working Group once more states that no oil leaks have been recorded in and around of Guneshli offshore field and Oil Rocks. The booms installed on the surface of the water aim to pump possible oil spills in the vessels and deliver to the special points for utilization”, SOCAR said.

The Working Group consisting of specialists of Ministries of Emergency Situations and Ecology and Natural Resources, SOCAR and BP has immediately been created after the accident occurred at offshore field and regularly conducts the monitoring. At the same time, footage of Azercosmos OJSC and Canadian MDA’s Radarsat-2 satellite are daily submitted to the Working Group.
