According to the information, two vessels of the Ministry of Emergency Situations currently conduct the firefighting operation in Guneshli offshore field. Moreover, one more vessel of the MES is on the waiting list to extinguish the fire. The US experts have installed special devices and carry out firefighting operations.
The fire broke out on the offshore platform Dec. 4, as a strong storm damaged an underwater high-pressure gas pipeline. As many as 33 people were rescued in an ensuing large-scale operation. The dead bodies of seven oilmen were retrieved, while 23 oil workers are still listed as missing.
