Leopard spotted in Nakhchivan
One more male leopard was caught on camera in the Arazboyu reserve of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on Monday, spokesperson for the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Irada Ibrahimova told.
The images have been shot by camera traps set up in the reserve area as part of joint project on the restoration of leopard populations being implemented by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the IDEA and the World Wildlife Fund.

Experts believe Caucasian leopards over the last four years have been more intensively returning to their habitats in Azerbaijan. Prior to the latest incident, leopards were spotted in Zangazur National Park named after Hasan Aliyev in September 2012, February-March 2013 and January 2014, and in Hirkan National Park in October 2012 and May 2013.

The joint project implemented by the IDEA, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the World Wildlife Fund to restore Caucasian leopard populations seems to be producing good results. As a result of the monitoring conducted so far, leopards have been caught on camera many times.
