2015 was very successful for Azerbaijani athletes, NOC vice-president
Vice-president of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Chingiz Huseynzade has said the year 2015 was very successful for Azerbaijani athletes.
"We hosted the first ever European Games, and our athletes shined at this multi-sport event." He also highlighted the world Universiade, where Azerbaijan ranked 23rd. "We grabbed two gold and one bronze medal, and the golds were claimed in athletics."

"In general, our athletes set several records at high-profile international events in 2015. For example, young Azerbaijani athlete Nazim Babayev broke a 32-year European championship record, booking a place in the Olympic Games," Huseynzade added.
