NATO appreciates Azerbaijani servicemen
Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov ordered Jan.7 to award the two Azerbaijani military doctors – Shukur Abdullayev and Gunduz Akbarov, serving under the NATO-led Resolute Support mission launched in Afghanistan, for providing professional medical assistance to those affected in a terrorist attack on Spain’s embassy in Afghanistan Dec.11, 2015, the defense ministry told.

The ministry said that some of those affected in the deadly terrorist attack were taken to a medical facility where Azerbaijani officers were serving. Azerbaijan’s military doctors provided medical assistance to seriously injured persons and could save the life of an afghan citizen as a result of successful surgery.

NATO’s Turkish Armed Forces Command in Afghanistan highly-estimated the professionalism of the Azerbaijani servicemen, and Commander of the Turkish Task Force in Afghanistan Cahit Bakir presented letters of appreciation to both Azerbaijani officers, the ministry said.
