Azerbaijan intends to develop technologies for defense industry, deputy minister says
He made the remarks at a conference titled “The modern warfare methods and security challenges”, held in Baku as part of the ADEX 2014 – Azerbaijan International Defence Industry Exhibition.
“It is no secret that this leads to a one-sided dependence. Therefore, we conduct scientific research, train specialists to create the technology for national defense industry,” Musayev said.
He noted that the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the reason for an embargo on arms sales to Azerbaijan.
Musayev said the defense industry of Azerbaijan has in a short time established cooperation with over 30 countries, and acquired modern technologies.
He also noted that Azerbaijan created a commission in the sphere of military-technical cooperation with Turkey and other countries.
The deputy minister said the purpose of holding the ADEX 2014 in Baku is the desire of Azerbaijan to expand military-technical cooperation with many world countries.
