Artificial price hike, dollar crisis in Azerbaijan causing protests - MP
Artificial price hike and dollar crisis in Azerbaijan is causing protests in different parts of the country, deputy executive secretary of ruling New Azerbaijan Party, MP Siyavush Novruzov told.
“Dollar is not being sold at prices displayed at exchange offices. Rather they issue the money into the “black market,” where they defraud the citizens by offering exchange at higher prices. The Central Bank has issued 100 million dollars into circulation, allocating certain amounts of funds to each exchange office,” said the MP.

Novruzov said President Ilham Aliyev has recently given instructions to enhance the fight against the artificial price hike. “This has to be stopped through serious control by law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Economic Development.”

He said the prices of local products must not rise, of course, there will be some differences in the prices of imported foreign products but there has to be control on prices in the domestic market.
