Azerbaijan to make amendments to legislation on activities of offices and branches of foreign NGOs
The parliament’s committees on Legal Policy and State Building and Social Policy have today discussed this issue at a joint meeting.

Ali Huseynli, Chairman of the Committee on Legal Policy and State Building, said the amendment made to the law on “State Registration and State Register of Legal Entities” envisages the abolition of an office or branch of foreign NGOs if they unite with, joins another organization or is divided or their legal form is changed.

The other amendment permits foreign NGOs to open only one office or branch in Azerbaijan.

NGOs, in the regulations their office or branch presents to the local executive authority, must present their legal address, objective of their activities, authority and term of office, and the document on the appointment of the deputy head.

These authorities must present information to the relevant local executive authority on tasks and instructions assigned to them and their execution, even the termination or resume of their activities and data on the organization’s property issues.

The amendments have been recommended to the parliament’s plenary meeting.
