According to the statement, as many as 399 persons wanted by Azerbaijan’s law-enforcement bodies were detained and handed over to corresponding bodies.
The smuggling of over 13 kg of drugs was prevented in 13 cases during the reporting period. More than 6 kg of heroin, 3 kg of marihuana, 1 kg of opium and 30 tablets of methadone, hidden on the state border, were found and seized as a result of measures taken on Dec.6, said the statement.
Moreover, on Dec.18, one person was detained while attempting to smuggle 1 kg of opium and 1.3 kg of heroin to Azerbaijan.
As a result of appropriate measures, the smuggled goods worth of AZN 932,000 in 71 cases, as well as one five-charge rifle, 26 pieces of 12mm cartridges, 2 brass knuckles, $20,020, 14 mobile phones, one binocular, 10,444 boxes of cigarettes, 11,121 pyrotechnic devices, various medicines, food and industrial goods were seized, according to the statement.
