Twin Blasts Rock Restaurant in S. Thailand, Leaving One Dead and 7 Injured
One woman was killed and seven other people were injured in a twin blast that took place during the night overnight at a restaurant in southern Thailand, local media reported Tuesday.
A grenade was thrown inside a beachside karaoke restaurant in Songkhla Province on the border with Malaysia at 11:30 p.m. local time (4:30 GMT), the Bangkok Post reported.

The explosion killed a 28-year-old Thai woman and wounded seven other customers. A 40-year-old woman had her leg ripped off by the blast, according to the outlet. One person has yet to be identified.

The second explosion went off in front of the restaurant shortly after the first attack, although this time no one was hurt.

A team of police and military experts was dispatched to the scene, which was cordoned off. The Thai outlet said security agencies in the province had earlier issued a warning cautioning about possible attacks in urban and popular tourist areas.

Daesh attacked the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Thursday; Thailand`s southernmost provinces are home to the majority of its Muslim population and the attacks could be linked to extremists` attempts to target the tourist industry.
