Dogan also said the BTK railroad will pass along the historic route of “Great Silk Road”.
“Connection of the BTK railroad with the Marmara tunnel in Istanbul will actually link Asia to Europe,” he added.
It will also be possible to transport goods from Central Asia to Europe through the BTK, said Dogan.
“In addition, the BTK project will contribute to creation of new jobs,” he added.
Dogan also noted that investments are expected to grow and there will be a revival of the regional economy once the BTK railway comes on stream.
“Once the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway starts to operate, it will be possible to talk about increasing trade turnover among the three participating countries [Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia],” said Dogan.
“Strategic partnership among the parties will be strengthened, along with economic cooperation,” he added.
