The list of companies for privatization will soon be put up for discussion in Azerbaijan.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the remarks in his interview with RIA Novosti.
The head of state noted that Azerbaijani authorities are not planning to privatize the State Oil Company - its strategic asset amid decline in oil prices. "SOCAR will remain the state property, because it is a strategic asset," the president said.
Answering the question whether the Russian companies will be able to take part in privatization of assets in Azerbaijan, Aliyev said that Russia is a close friend of his country. "We would be glad if they do. They have not yet appealed to us," he said.
