First container train from Ukraine to China departs Baku for Aktau
The first test container train, moving along Ukraine-Georgia-Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan-China route has departed from Baku to Aktau.
The test train departed to Aktau sea port at 23:00 on January 22 on “Azerbaijan” ferry.

The test train willl arrive in Kazakhstan’s Aktau sea port from the the ferry terminal of Baku port in Alat. The container train was launched from Illichivsk, Ukraine on Jan. 15 for a test journey through Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to China, across the Caspian and Black seas, and arrived at Georgian port of Poti Jan. 20.

The test train was launched after Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Ukraine signed a protocol on Jan. 14 on setting competitive preferential tariffs for cargo traffic via the Trans-Caspian international transport route.

The Trans-Caspian international transport route runs through China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, and then to Europe.
