EU: Iran may join Southern Gas Corridor project
The European Union and Turkey share a number of common issues, one of which is the Southern Gas Corridor project, the European Union’s Climate Action and Energy Commissioner, Miguel Arias Cañete, said in an interview to Anadolu agency.

“We need to work together for the diversification of sources that will supply EU countries with gas. We give high importance to the gas to be imported from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and most likely from Turkmenistan. As you know, we buy gas from Russia, too,” he said.

He added that Iran too may join the Southern Gas Corridor project.

“We do not rule out the possibility that Iran will join the Southern Gas Corridor project. This project is need of improvement so that sources of the gas to be supplied through it can be diversified,” said Miguel Arias Cañete.
