The president made the remarks Feb. 1 during a meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, in Abu Dhabi.
The head of state said that 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands have been occupied by Armenia, resulting in more than one million of Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons.
President Aliyev then expressed his gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for its support in connection with the adoption of a resolution on the conflict in the UN General Assembly, noting that Azerbaijan, in turn, supports the positions of the UAE in the UN and other international organizations.
