European Commission Adopts Plan to Combat Terrorism Financing
European Commission Vice-President for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis said that preventing and tracking financial operations linked to funding terrorism, disrupting sources of terrorism revenue and encouraging international cooperation are three priorities areas of a plan to fight the financing of terrorism.
The European Commission has adopted a plan to fight the financing of terrorism, European Commission Vice-President for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis said Tuesday.

"Today the Commission adopted an action plan to strengthen the fight against terrorism financing," Dombrovskis said in the readout of the day`s EC college meeting.

Dombrovskis noted that preventing and tracking financial operations linked to funding terrorism, disrupting sources of terrorism revenue and encouraging international cooperation are three priorities areas.

First Vice-President Frans Timmermans said the Commission planned to update and develop EU rules and tools to tackle terrorist financing "in the coming months."

The call to step up efforts to stem the flow of money to terrorist organizations came in the wake of the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 130 people.
