Baku, Washington co-op to advance socio-economic development in Azerbaijan
In Muradalili village of Imishli district and Neftchiler and Birlik villages of Shirvan city, poor road conditions have hampered transportation, affecting businesses, school attendance, and agricultural productivity. The SEDA project helped repair almost 2,000 meters of roads in the three communities, improving the quality of life for more than 3,300 people.
To date, the SEDA project has provided over $1,000,000 in funding for 58 projects in 52 communities around Azerbaijan to promote fuller participation of citizens, civil society organizations and local and central government officials to advance socio-economic development. The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the East-West Management Institute with support from the Ministry of Economy and the Council for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations.
