He said that the sides to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict have been committed to a negotiated settlement mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. “The Minsk Group is and remains the only accepted format for these negotiations,” said the co-chair.
OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs made statement of protest before the discussion of the resolution titled “Escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” in PACE.
A few days ago, Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov stated that they sent letters of protest to all three co-chairing countries in this regard. The Minister noted that the letter that co-chairs sent to Strasbourg is ridiculous. “I have sent letters of protest to the foreign ministers of three countries. I noted that we have a sovereign right to raise any issue at international platforms and nobody has the right to interfere in our sovereign affairs. They can’t put pressure on European MPs, this is illogical”, Azerbaijani FM said.
Robert Walter’s resolution titled “Escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” was tabled on January 26, during the PACE winter session. Joined by 181 MPs, the voting resulted in 66 in favor of and 70 against the resolution, with 45 MPs neutral. So the resolution was not approved.
