The policemen were attacked while they were unloading rations for police personnel at Baghmara, a district headquarter town of South Garo Hills region of the state, according to the report.
The Garo militants were suspected to be behind the attack, according to police.
About a dozen militant groups are active in India`s restive northeast region engaging Indian police and security forces.
