In early December, Gasic told a reporter from B92 TV that he loves female journalists who "kneel easily."
In late January, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic sent a letter to the parliament with a request to dismiss Gasic. Vucic thanked the minister for good results in increasing the country`s combat readiness, but added that his public remarks were unacceptable.
After the dismissal, the prime minister has 15 days to propose a new candidate for the post of defense minister.
