Khojaly victims to be commemorated in Poland
Poland to host an event to commemorate the victims of the Khojaly genocide, Togrul Mammadli, an expert of the international relations department at the Council on State Support to NGOs under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy will be organized jointly by Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Poland, the Polish-Azerbaijani Association and the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organization Union.

A delegation of deputies from the ruling Law and Justice Party of Poland will join the event through a video-conference, Mammadli said.

Increasing the number of such events can contribute to the recognition of the Khojaly genocide in the international arena.

The international events aimed at achieving the recognition of the Khojaly genocide are held as part of the Justice for Khojaly awareness campaign initiated on 8 May 2008 by Mrs Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Thus far, nearly 10 countries, some US states and various international organizations have officially recognized the Khojaly tragedy.
