One person dead and several injured in Florida strip club shooting - VIDEO
The incident occurred Club Rayne in north Tampa, an area renowned for its number of lap-dancing bars, shortly after 2am local time.
Officers arrived to find seven people suffering from gunshot wounds, one of whom died at the scene. Another person was taken to hospital before officers arrived.
Lt Ruth Cate, a spokeswoman for Tampa police, said details about the extent of the victims’ injuries were not yet available.
The name of the person who died would not be released until an identity could be confirmed and next of kin notified, she added.
Video taken by a news agency outside the club shows at least one patron and a member of the venue’s security team being taken away on stretchers. Another man can be seen lying motionless on the footpath.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. A patron at the club was using social media to broadcast a video stream and a number of shots can be heard on the video before it abruptly ends.
