“Iran and Azerbaijan have so much in common that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. Our nations have coexisted together for centuries. Bilateral political, economic, and cultural ties are developing day by day. Azerbaijani journalists have visited Iran several times. This allows our countries to get to know each other better. Mutual cultural events are held in both countries. This year was declared “the year of multiculturalism” in Azerbaijan. Iran and Azerbaijan are two stable countries in the region, and this has been possible as a result of multiculturalism,” he said.
Ibrahimi noted that his country has been held under pressure by major powers of the world over the last 37 years. Nevertheless, the message Iran conveys to the worlds is the message of peace.
“All countries have the right to benefit from nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes. Iranian scientists are working on it,” Ibrahimi stressed.
He added that those countries had in fact imposed the sanctions on themselves rather than on Iran.
“After the success attained by Iran 20 days ago, all western countries are now lined up to visit and hold negotiations in Iran. Iran sees its development as Azerbaijan’s development and at the same time the development of Azerbaijan as its own. Iranian cultural figures are highly respected in Azerbaijan and vice versa. You consider Shahriyar your own poet and we consider Fuzuli our own poet,” said Ibrahimi.
