Temperature rose in Azerbaijan
Analysis of data from 1991 until 2012 shows that temperature has increased by 0.5-0.6 degrees Celsius and the amount of atmospheric precipitation has decreased by 15-89 mm in Azerbaijan, the senior researcher of meteorology, climatology and agrometeorology department of the ANAS Geography Institute, PhD in Geography Maharram Hasanov told.
According to him, the World Meteorological Organization has accepted climate data for 1961-1990 as norm. “The temperature has increased by 1.5 C degrees worldwide in recent years,” he noted.

Hasanov said that climate change is also observed in Azerbaijan.

“Hot weather in Azerbaijan in January or February was not unexpected for Azerbaijan. Higher temperature in the country was recorded in some years. The average monthly temperature is close to normal. It is wrong to link the registered heat with global climate change. According to long-term norms, temperature rose and the amount of atmospheric precipitation dropped in Azerbaijan,” he added.
