French Senate backs extension of state of emergency for another 3 months
The upper house of the French Parliament, the Senate, voted on Tuesday to extend the state of emergency in the country for another three months, introduced following the November deadly terror attacks in Paris.
A total of 316 parliamentarians supported the bill, 28 opposed it.

On November 13, a series of terrorist attacks across Paris left at least 130 people dead. Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the tragedy.

Following the attacks, a state of emergency was announced in France for three months, and was due to expire on February 26. The government has argued in favor of prolonging the state of emergency as it believes that the threat of terror attacks persists in the country.
