New head of ICRC Azerbaijan Delegation named
Elena Ajmone Sessera has been appointed as the new head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Azerbaijan as incumbent Denise Duran’s mandate ended, AzVision.az reports citing APA.

Elena Ajmone Sessera has been working for the ICRC since November 2000. Since October 2011, she held the position of Operations Coordinator within the ICRC operational region AMERICAS, covering the ICRC Columbia and Brasilia Delegations. She was the acting Head of Region on several occasions. Before working in the ICRC headquarters, she was assigned to Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Haiti, Myanmar, Rwanda and Colombia.

She holds two Master degrees: in human rights and democratization from the University of Padua in Italy and Bochum in Germany & in criminology and international criminal law from the University of Law and UNICRI Turin in Italy. Her undergraduate degree was in international and diplomatic relations from the University of Trieste. She speaks six languages.
