BBC TV channel screens Ali and Nino film
The chief director of the film `Ali and Nino`, winner of the BAFTA Award Asif Kapadia, told the BBC about shooting the film. In addition, the channel presented excerpts from the film and the process of its creation.
The executive producer of the film is the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva, the film`s producer is Chris Tike and the screenwriter is Christopher Hampton.

Asif Kapadia told the BBC that the story is developing in the Caucasus. "Now the region is so important in the light of current events. The East meets the West, Europe meets Asia, Islam meets Christianity. This is a great place. I could not even imagine this part of the world. It was a crazy journey into an unknown world," Kapadia stressed.

Another of his films, `Amy`, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Documentary Feature category, Trend reminds.

The premiere of the film `Ali and Nino` took place at the International Sundance Film Festival in the US.

Ali and Nino, a film based on Kurban Said`s famous novel, tells the story of Azerbaijan’s struggle for independence and the love of two young people of different faiths against the background of complex historical events in the early 20th century.

Roles in the film are performed by Adam Bakri, Maria Valverde, Halit Ergenc, Fakhraddin Manafov and others.
