Azerbaijan to continue contributing to NATO-led mission in Afghanistan
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai on Tuesday.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and NATO and their prospects, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry told APA.

Praising the relations between Azerbaijan and NATO, Appathurai thanked Azerbaijan for successful cooperation, especially for its consistent contributions to international peace and security within the framework of the mission conducted in Asfghanistan.

Mammadyarov, in turn, said that Azerbaijan and NATO enjoy a reliable and sustainable partnership, underlining the development of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the programs like Individual Partnership Action Plan, Planning and Review Process, Operational Capabilities Concept.

He said that Azerbaijan will continue to contribute to the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.

Calling the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict the main threat to stability and security in the region, Mammadyarov noted that in order to achieve a solution Armenia should withdraw its troops from all the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

Moreover, the sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.
