Incoming ICRC Azerbaijan head hails justice reforms in the country
Incoming head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation to Azerbaijan Elena Ajmone Sessera has hailed justice reforms in the country as she met with Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov.
She praised “large-scale” measures taken to improve justice and penitentiary system.

Ajmone Sessera also said she will spare no efforts to develop relations between the ICRC and Azerbaijan.

Outgoing chief of ICRC Azerbaijan Delegation Deniz Duran hailed cooperation between the ICRC and the country`s Ministry of Justice.

She also applauded reforms carried out in Azerbaijan, and the government`s work to improve detention conditions and healthcare services for inmates.

Minister Mammadov highlighted what had been done under President Ilham Aliyev to modernize the country`s justice system, strengthen the protection of rights of prisoners and defendants. He also lauded the ICRC`s supporting Azerbaijan`s reforms.
