Bashar al-Assad accepts ceasefire deal announced by Russia and US
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has accepted a ceasefire deal announced by Russia and the United States.
The foreign ministry in Damascus said the government would stop armed operations, but would "continue counter-terrorism efforts" against the Islamic State group, Al-Qaeda and affiliated groups.

A spokesperson said Damascus would be co-ordinating with Russia to define the areas and rebel groups covered by the ceasefire but reserved the right to respond to any breach of the conditions.
