Relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, the two friendly and neighboring countries, stand at a high level, said Ahmadov.

There is an increase in the number of mutual visits between the two countries, according to the deputy PM.

“We have deep-rooted historical, ethnic and religious relations. Therefore, the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran which are based on the principles of friendship and mutual trust are on the rise,” he added.

Ahmadov said the lifting of sanctions on Iran created new opportunities for the country`s integration into the world. “It [lifting of sanctions] also has a positive impact on relations between Azerbaijan and Iran. We want economic and trade relations between Azerbaijan and Iran to further strengthen.

“It also has a positive effect on the Iranian-Azerbaijani relations. We want traditional friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran to further strengthen economic and trade relations. Therefore, President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Iran is of great importance in terms of political, economic and friendly relations. Both Azerbaijani and Iranian societies welcome this visit. All of us believe in good results of this visit,” he concluded.
