A statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), a mouthpiece of the Pakistan army, said that the incident took place when an Mi-17 helicopter of the Pakistan Army Aviation crashed in Tarbela area of Haripur in the country`s northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The ISPR said one officer Lt. Colonel Tauqeer was killed in the mishap.
The army did not say whether any other person was on board or not.
The Russian-made Mi-17 encountered the accident when it was on its routine training mission.
The cause of the accident is not known yet, but some reports said it was apparently due to technical malfunctions.

At least one officer was killed as a helicopter of Pakistan army crashed in the country`s northwest district of Haripur on Monday evening, the military said.
