It added that one security officer was killed and five others were injured during operation. Two civilians were also injured in the exchange of fire, according to the report.
The intelligence said it managed to locate the group which hid in one of the buildings in Irbid governorate and the terrorists started firing at the security force.
The department said a number of weapons, automatic guns, ammunition and explosives were seized in possession of the terrorists.
Prime Minister Abdulla Ensour said Jordan will continue to stand firm in the fight against terrorist groups and Jordanians will stand united in the face of terrorism.
