Brazilian police raid home of former president Lula
Police carrying out 44 judicial orders in connection with investigation into alleged corruption at oil company Petrobras
Brazilian police are at the home of the former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Federal police officer Jose Cyrispiniano confirmed that officers at addresses belonging to Silva, including the Instituto Lula, his charity organisation.

Brazil’s O Globo news network broadcast images of police officials around a building they said was Silva’s residence in São Bernardo do Campo, in greater São Paulo.

Cyrispiniano said police were acting on a warrant that would oblige Silva to answer questions as part of the investigation into corruption at the oil company Petrobras.

Police said they were carrying out 44 judicial orders.
