NATO plans to expand co-op with Azerbaijan

NATO plans to expand co-op with Azerbaijan

NATO plans to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan, Representative of NATO`s Political Affairs and Security Policy Division at NATO Headquarters, Steffen Elgersma told reporters in Baku March 7.

NATO is satisfied with Azerbaijan’s participation in its operations in recent years and its large scale cooperation with Azerbaijan in the military sphere, the representative said.

The upcoming summit in Warsaw will focus on issues and challenges on eastern and southern borders of the Alliance, according to Elgersma.

“We will hold summit on the Afghanistan issue. I hope that the countries that contribute to NATO-led peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan, as well as Azerbaijan will be part of this debate,” he added.
