Blancpain Sprint Series final round kicks off in Baku - PHOTOS
The 3rd international racing tournament the Baku World Challenge 2014, which is the final round of Blancpain Sprint Series, kicked off in Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 1.

The tournament, organized by the AzTexnika company with the assistance of Azerbaijan’s Youth and Sports Ministry and Azerbaijan Automobile Federation, is being held Nov. 1-2.

During the two days of competition, the spectators will observe the uncompromising, exciting and spectacular races, cars and drivers.

The drivers will compete for professional and semi-professional titles on a completely new, specially designed street circuit with the length of 4 kilometers. The racers will compete in the circuit, passing the famous Baku Crystal Hall and the State Flag Square.

Some 59 drivers with 30 cars from 17 teams take part in the competition.

The following cars are competing in the event: BMW Z4, Audi R8LMS Ultra, Mercedes SLS AMG GT3, McLaren MP4-12C, Lamborghini LFII, Porsche 997 GT3, Aston Martin Vantage GT3, and Corvette Z06 G.

Free and qualifying races are being held today. They will continue on Nov. 2 as well and will start at 9:15 (UTC/GMT +4 hours). The main race, the FIA GT Series will be held on Nov. 2 and start at 13:55.

The winner (the winning team) will be awarded with 100,000 euros, the holder of the second place will get 50,000 euros, and the holder of the third place will be awarded 25,000 euros.

The event is being broadcasted live on the Eurosport TV channel in European, Middle East countries, as well as in Australia, Asia, America and Africa.
