Agreement with SOCAR to provide Georgia
Georgian government’s main goal is to supply population with stable and incessantly, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze said.

According to him, demand of population for gas will be met by Azerbaijan and Georgian government and SOCAR have signed an agreement: “Azerbaijan will transport additional gas to Georgia. This is sufficient to cover the deficit”.

Touching upon the negotiations with Gazprom, the minister noted that the subject of the negotiations was conditions of gas transportation to Armenia through Georgia: “These negotiations have been conducting since 2004. At the same time, covering of deficit by Russian gas has also been discussed. However, there is no need to purchase additional gas from Gazprom after agreement with SOCAR. This agreement will supply Georgian population with stable and incessant gas and provide energy security”.
