Eyvazov previously worked as deputy interior minister for operational affairs.
The post of first deputy interior ministry was created in Azerbaijan. This is reflected in the Azerbaijani president’s decree on amendments to the presidential decree “On approval of the Regulations and structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan”, dated 30 June 2001.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed on March 11 an order on appointment of Police Lieutenant-General Vilayat Eyvazov as the first Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.
