The National Action Plan on the Zero Hunger Initiative in Nepal (2016-2025) was jointly launched by Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva in Kathmandu.
Launching the action plan, the Nepalese prime minister said that Nepal is committed to meeting the target before the deadline.
As per the action plan, the Nepal government will focus on increasing production of local agriculture, utilization of barren land, irrigation facility, year-round food availability and eliminating stunting in infants, among others.
According to the World Food Programme, more than 87 million people face starvation and malnutrition around the world. Nepal ranks 44th among 76 countries facing hunger.
