He made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan following the fifth meeting of the Turkey-Azerbaijan High Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Ankara March 15.
President Aliyev recalled that Turkey invited Azerbaijan to G-20 summit in 2015. “Turkey could invite one country to the summit and chose Azerbaijan. The stronger Turkey gets, the stronger Azerbaijan will be,” he added.
The head of state noted that Turkey has always supported the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in line with international law.
Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity must be restored, President Aliyev said, calling Turkey’s support for this issue ‘a very important’.
Azerbaijan and Turkey have recently held joint military exercises, which is a very good tradition, Aliyev said.
Azerbaijan is purchasing a variety of arms and military equipment from Turkey and this country’s success in the field of defense industry is also strengthening Azerbaijan’s defense capability,” the head of state concluded.
