Azerbaijan reveals statistics of HIV-infected foreigners
Some 23 HIV-positive foreign nationals (15 men, 8 women) were registered in Azerbaijan in 2015, reads the National Report on Drug Control in 2015 of the Working Group of the State Commission on Fight against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
4 out of the male foreigners were infected with HIV through injection drug use, 9 – through heterosexual contact and 2 – through unknown way. One of the female foreigners was infected with HIV through injection drug use, 6 – through homosexual contact and one – through unknown way, the report reads.

From 1987 to 2016, as many as 190 HIV-infected foreign nationals (146 men, 44 women) were recorded in Azerbaijan, according to the report.

45 out of the male foreigners were infected with HIV through injection drug use, 58 – through heterosexual contact and 2 – through unknown way. 8 of the female foreigners was infected with HIV through injection drug use, 33 – through homosexual contact and 3 – through unknown way, the report reads.
