"We are aware of one US service member and his family who were caught up in this tragedy. Due to privacy concerns, we are not releasing the status of their injuries at this time," EUCOM spokesperson Navy Lt. Cheryl Collins was quoted by Military Times as saying on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, two bomb explosions left at least 14 people dead at the Brussels Airport, while a blast in the central Brussels Maelbeek metro station killed 20 others. According to the latest reports, as many as 200 people were injured in the attacks.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced following the attacks that three US citizens, who had been working as Mormon missionaries in Paris, were also injured in the attacks.
US Secretary of State John Kerry said that the US Embassy in Brussels was trying to account for the wellbeing of all American citizens who may be in Brussels and that the US would support the Belgian government in any way.
