Armenian parliament approves government re-structuring
Armenian parliament approved the amendments to the law on government structure in the second and the final reading on Nov.17, Armenia’s ARKA news agency reported.

A total of 70 MPs voted in favor, six against, with 31 abstained.

The amendments envisage the merger of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as the creation of a new Ministry of International Economic Integration and Reforms.

The functions of the new Ministry of International Economic Integration and Reforms will be approved a week after the final adoption of the amendments to the law on government structure by the parliament.

The post of the minister of territorial administration remained vacant after the resignation of Armen Gevorgyan from the post of deputy prime minister and the minister of territorial administration in mid-October.

Currently, 18 ministries operate in Armenia.
