EgyptAir hijacker remains on board with 5 crew members, 7 passengers
The hijacker of the EgyptAir commercial jet located in Larnaca, Cyprus, still remains on board the aircraft with five crewmembers and seven passengers, the Nicosia police press service told Sputnik on Tuesday.
According to Cyprus`s state RIK television, the hijacker may have had his own ulterior motives in mind when taking control of the aircraft.

“The man is still on the plane with five people of the crew and seven passengers, the measures the same taken from the beginning as we know he has a letter to a woman in Cyprus she is his ex-wife, we don t know the citizenship of the passengers, the airport [is] still closed,” the press service said.

According to the broadcaster, the hijacker requested a 4-page letter written in Arabic be passed to an unidentified woman residing in Cyprus. Reuters reported the woman is his ex-wife.

“The woman is his ex-wife, they have four children, the woman lives in Larnaca, the man is fifty-nine years old, the woman is Cypriot, the woman is going to the airport maybe be she is there now,” the press service added.

Earlier in the day, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades said that the hijacking of the EgyptAir commercial jet that landed in Larnaca was not a terrorist act, but only “woman woes.”

“Everything is always tied with a woman,” Anastasiades said during a joint press conference with European Parliament President Martin Schulz.
