“The extensive use of heavy military equipment and large-caliber weapons were unexpected for local population and posed a huge threat. A few civilians are reported to have been killed and wounded. Although the negotiations through the OSCE Minsk Group are ongoing, the opposite side does not comply with the requirements of the ceasefire regime. The opposite side is always responding with provocations to Azerbaijan’s efforts to resolve the problem peacefully and in maintenance of justice. Armenia’s occupying and aggressive policy is causing the conflict to prolong and aggravate. Therefore, the fighting should be stopped and the OSCE Minsk Group must step up their efforts immediately. The peace talks should continue and international organizations must react to the problem and the ceasefire has to be respected. Otherwise the conflict may enter a more active phase and result in heavier consequences in the region, the responsibility for which will be upon Armenia’s leadership,” he said.
