Armenia given appropriate response
Armenian armed forces committed another provocation against Azerbaijan on April 2, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

The president made the remarks during the meeting of the Security Council on April 2.

Armenian armed forces attacked Azerbaijani positions near the contact line of troops and shelled the residential areas, which resulted in the deaths of Azerbaijani servicemen and civilians, President Aliyev said.

The head of state expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.

The president said he instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to prepare proposals for the provision of financial assistance to the bereaved families and the Defense Ministry to prepare proposals to award the servicemen who distinguished themselves in the battles and fought heroically for their homeland.

Armenia regularly resorts to such provocations, according to the president.

“A few days ago, Armenian army committed similar provocation on the Gazakh sector of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Armenian saboteurs attacked our positions, killing two soldiers,” President Aliyev said, noting that Armenia has given an appropriate response, and this provocation once again show Armenia’s insidious policy against Azerbaijan.

The head of state said the enemy suffered heavy losses as a result of great blows inflicted by Azerbaijani armed forces.

“I can say that our heroic soldiers not only managed to prevent the provocation, but also were able to liberate some strategically important heights which further increased Azerbaijan’s advantage on the contact line. We have won a great military victory giving the appropriate response to the provocation. I would like to congratulate the Azerbaijani army and people over the victory,” President Aliyev added.

Armenian provocations will not go unanswered, and an appropriate response will be given, the president warned. “The Azerbaijani army is ready to fight and protect the homeland, and the memory of those who were martyred will live forever in our hearts,” he said.
