`After seeing Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan will never negotiate with Armenia for the sake of imitation. Armenian troops must leave Azerbaijani lands, Ziyafat Asgarov, first vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, said on Tuesday.
Asgarov said Armenia has not complied with the ceasefire regime a single time since 1994 and instead has constantly threatened Azerbaijan with provocations.

“There have been constant reports of threats on the front line, of the deaths of civilians, children, and elderly people. During this period, the Azerbaijani side has shown commitment to peace, to the negotiations process. We bore enough patience. We repeatedly warned last year that we would not go to negotiations for imitation. Nevertheless, the Armenians still resorted to imitation with the hand of their backers, negotiating for the sake of negotiation. By this means, they sought to prolong the then-existing situation,” he added.

The latest developments showed that the Armenians had been taking the advantage of having been left unpunished because of international organizations’ inaction, according to Asgarov.

“Especially the OSCE Minsk Group used to issue statements followed by no action. What did turn out is that the co-chairs are actually backing the Armenians. That’s truth, unfortunately. Although their mission is to build peace, we did not see this happening. We came to the conclusion that international law lacks enough power, so the law of power had to work. In this case, Azerbaijan showed off its power. We have displayed commitment to international law up to this day, and always will. But sometimes it is also necessary to show the law of power, so that the opposite side does not transgress limits,” he stressed.

Asgarov went on to add that the enemy was shown the practical strength of the Azerbaijani army.

“We had not bought those weapons only to display them in parade, but for this particular day. The enemy witnessed that. A psychological change has taken place since 1994. Our people saw the army’s strength too. The myth made up about the Armenian army completely faded away, like the foams of soap. We proved that Armenia is not an independent state, nor do they have an independent army or weaponry. They continue to be a puppet. Regarding the latest escalation, all I can say is, we had no other choice as they had always threatened us. After showing our power, international organizations are also beginning to take action. The overwhelming majority supports Azerbaijan, since it’s our matter of justice. International organizations once against understood that the Nagorno-Karabakh is not a frozen conflict but the one that has been inflaming. Therefore, this matter has to be settled,” Asgarov concluded.
