Turkey to commission seven road tunnels till 2017
Turkey will commission seven road tunnels for the next two years, the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Communications told Trend Nov. 21.

Turkey will commission six road tunnels, namely: "Konak", "Erkenek", "Karahan", "Salmankas", "Ilgaz", "Milhatpasa" by 2015. The Kop road tunnel will be commissioned by 2017, the ministry said.

The length of the "Konak" tunnel will be 1,570 meters, "Erkenek" – 1,816 meters, "Karahan" – 1,600 meters, "Salmankas" – 4,200 meters, "Ilgaz" – 5,391 meters, "Milhatpasa" – 1,530 meters.

The length of the "Kop" tunnel will be 6,500 meters.

Around 187 tunnels were built in the country, 113 of which have a length of over 500 meters, the Turkish General Directorate of Highways said.

The length of 28 tunnels reaches one kilometer, 14 tunnels - more than two kilometers, three tunnels - three kilometers. The length of the largest tunnel in Turkey is more than three kilometers. The remaining tunnels have a length of up to 500 meters.

The total length of all tunnels in Turkey is 145,694.68 kilometers.
