Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan - Albania
Ilir Rexhep Meta, Speaker of the Albanian Parliament stated on the military provocation of by the Armenian Armed Forces on the contact line of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Albania expresses its worries over the surge of attacks, destruction of civil objects and human losses in terms of latest crisis happening around frozen Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, TEAS told AzVision.az.

`We support the efforts of the international community, immediate restoration of ceasefire regime, de-escalation of the situation and the protection of civilians. The sides must comply by the international law and norms and hold talks for the versatile, complete and continuous settlement of the conflict in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. The principles adopted by the EU and OSCE must be priority for the settlement of the conflict`.

It was noted that Nagorno Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan. Furthermore, it is a right platform to involve all sides to the talks and help them in finding the solutions of the conflict. Albania believes that the principle of territorial integrity is a norm to regulate the modern intercountry relations. It also includes the condemnation over the invasion and oppression of the people from their lands:

`Albania fully supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Appropriately, international society need to increase its efforts ensuring IDPs` security to get back to their homes. Any violation must be halted and prevented. Otherwise, its results can lead to the devastation. Innocent civilians must be protected`.

The current refugee crisis in Near East, Balkans and Europe is a bad example of not preventing in time. The international cooperation must target this:

“This has to be the main objective of all international cooperation. Otherwise we risk having a deterioration of the situation in a complex region neighboring a devastating war and with high potentials to aggravate consequences over peace, stability and global economy. Peace and stability in Azerbaijan and the wider region are very important for Albania, Balkans and Europe. The strategic projects on energy diversification, energy security and the future of Southern Gas Corridor are vital and must not be jeopardized from another conflict,” he added.

Azerbaijan made a first move in the right direction, the speaker underlined. “It demonstrates the commitment for peace by Azerbaijan and needs an appropriate response from the other side. We therefore call for the immediate withdrawal of the military forces of Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh and the seven surrounding regions,” he concluded.
