President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev chaired on Saturday the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development in the first quarter of 2016 and objectives for the future.
A minute`s silence was observed in memory of the Azerbaijani soldiers, who heroically died while preventing the provocation of the Armenian armed forces.
Delivering a keynote speech at the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev wished patience to the bereaved relatives and recovery to those wounded.
The head of state said that in early April the Azerbaijani armed forces prevented another armed provocation of Armenians on the contact line of troops, the enemy was given a desired response and the military positions of Azerbaijan were further strengthened.
Stressing the importance of accelerating the development of the non-oil sector and creating new jobs, President Aliyev noted that the project of construction of social facilities, which is a considered a new initiative, will soon be launched in the capital and regional centers of the republic.
The head of state went on to add that this year special attention will be paid to the realization of the project of construction of more than 40 rural roads, the application of a unified tariff policy in transport corridors, the implementation of additional activities towards the establishment of a seaport in Alat and the development of agriculture and provision of food security.
